Sponsorship is the best way to create a lasting positive impact on the life of a vulnerable child in Kawangware and will allow you to create a very special bond with him or her.  Your sponsorship will bring a child the opportunity to have a healthy, happy childhood by providing education, healthcare and nutrition.  If you may be interested in sponsoring a child, please contact sponsorship@rayofhopeinternational.org.  Remember, you don’t have to do it alone! You can sponsor a child through your work, church, community organization, or together with your neighbors!

Education

  1. -Includes both
formal school sponsorship and after school educational enrichment
  2. -Four days a week sponsored children will return to the Ray of Hope Learning Centre where staff, teachers and volunteers will assist students with their homework and studying

  3. -Enrichment education activities will take place to teach children about proper nutrition and health

Healthcare

  1. -Poor healthcare acts as a constant barrier to educational  performance for children in Kawangware.

  2. -Sponsorship includes an allocation to cover the cost of regular medical check-ups and treatment at the Ray of Hope Clinic.

  3. -Students and parents will benefit from monthly courses in family and public health.

  4. -Through these means, children will be kept healthy and remain in school with good attendance.

Nutrition

  1. -The Learning Centre plans to continue its grant funded feeding program to provide nutritious lunches and porridge to the children in the Learning Centre.

  2. -Sponsored children will be fed lunch at Kileleshwa Primary through the school’s feeding program.

  3. -Sponsors are responsible for paying the small cost of lunches as well as nutritious snacks in the after school enrichment program.

We ask that each sponsor commits to sending their child to school through grade 8.  This may mean a four year commitment for some students, and an eight year commitment for others.  We can tailor your needs and the child’s needs to fit together.  Once the child reaches grade 8 we can then discuss whether you would like to continue sponsoring the child through high school.

Sponsorship, like all Ray of Hope initiatives, is community driven.  We are therefore determined to have the community invest in the community.

We believe that the sponsorship program is the best opportunity for our students to advance academically and escape the poverty they were born into. Together we can help raise a new generation of leaders in Kenya.  Leaders who are sharp-minded and filled with the empathy required to make a positive difference in the country and the world. If you may be interested in sponsoring a child, please contact sponsorship@rayofhopeinternational.org
